HARRISBURG – Rep. Jamie Barton (R-Berks/Schuylkill) today announced $40,000 in state funding has been awarded to the Hawk Mountain Sanctuary Association.
The grant was awarded by the Pennsylvania Historical and Museum Commission (PHMC) through its Cultural and Historical Support Grant Program.
“Hawk Mountain is such a vital asset to our community and our environment,” Barton said. “I’m so pleased to see it receiving this important funding assistance to help with ongoing marketing and promotion of the sanctuary.”
Barton noted the PHMC also awarded grants of $25,000 to the Berks History Center and $9,000 to the Schuylkill County Historical Society.
The Cultural and Historical Support Grant Program provides general operating support to Pennsylvania museums and historical societies not directly supported by other state programs. Grants are awarded on a formula based on a percentage of the organization’s annual operating budget. Funding was awarded to 177 organizations in 59 of the state’s 67 counties.
