Barton: 124th District Fire, EMS Companies Awarded $423,000

February 14, 2025

HARRISBURG - Rep. Jamie Barton (R-Berks/Schuylkill) announced today that fire and ambulance companies in the 124th Legislative District will collectively receive more than $423,000 in state grants to support their public safety mission.

“Keeping my community and constituents safe is my number one priority,” Barton said. “Our communities could not thrive without our firefighters and emergency medical services workers. We need to make sure these organizations have what they need. This funding is an important step in making sure that’s the case.”

The funding comes from an ongoing grant program created by the Legislature which is administered by the Pennsylvania Emergency Management Agency and Office of the State Fire Commissioner (OSFC). Projects eligible for funding include construction or renovation of a fire or ambulance company facility, purchase or repair of equipment, training, or reduction of existing debt.

All companies that apply and meet requirements outlined by OSFC receive funding. Companies must file a grant agreement with OSFC to receive their grants.
